Duck Burritos Recipe
Duck Burritos are a delightful Asian inspired appetizer that I found in our Finger Food from the BBQ and Grill cookbook. After thoroughly enjoying the homemade Peking Duck, this simplified version just leapt right off the page (and into our mouths!). Perfect for getting the tummies in the mood for a great meal. Plus, they’re pretty portable so the party can easily continue.

4
duck breasts
4
bak choi, washed, and cut in half
4
green onions, sliced into strips
1
cucumber, sliced into strips
8
tortillas
1 cup
cooked sushi rice
¼ cup
hoisin sauce
2 tbsp.
sriracha sauce
Marinade
2
cloves of garlic, minced
1 tbsp.
sesame oil
¼ cup
soy sauce
1 tsp.
five spice powder
juice of an orange
salt to taste
- For the marinade, peel and mince the garlic, mix it with the other marinade ingredients and coat the breasts. Marinate for at least and hour, up to 8 hours.
- Preheat your grill to 300°F.
- Place the duck breasts onto the grill, skin side down, cooking over direct heat for 10 to 15 minutes. Flip the duck over and cook an additional 10 minutes. Flip the duck over, skin side down, and cook an additional 5 minutes. At this time, add the halved bak choi to the grill over direct heat to char a little.
- Remove the duck and bak choi from the grill and allow the duck to rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Slice the cucumber and green onion into strips. Combine the hoisin and sriracha sauce together. On a tortilla, make a line of rice, add cucumber to both sides, then add the sliced duck. Top with green onion and a generous amount of the hoisin mixture. Roll and enjoy.
These Duck Burritos may be mini, but they pack a punch in the flavor department. I mean they’re sweet and spicy, and they’re savory and salty. They have it all! The marinade caramelizes on the outside and subtly enhances the already rich duck flavor. Try these for yourself when you have your next backyard barbecue, you won’t regret it.
